For an inpatient admission to a hospital for elderly medical care/long stay/rehabilitation/respite/GP care or for a mental illness. Payable to each eligible registered person for up to 50 nights for elderly and 50 nights for mental illness from first registration, but not for more than 40 nights in a 12 month period. Qualifying period: 3 months.

Increased Benefit
Should a contributor and spouse/partner be inpatients at the same time (in the same or a different hospital), the contributor and not the dependant rate of hospital benefit will be paid for both for the appropriate number of nights.
