Give your health an "MOT"

11th Mar 2008

Government health initiative and HSF health plan - what a great idea!

With “health MOTs” a key part of the government’s health initiatives more and more of us are being encouraged to have regular check-ups to prevent our health deteriorating and reduce our chances of developing serious conditions.

Health MOTs are free and offered to those in at-risk age groups, but for the rest of us, taking responsibility for your own healthcare can be costly. This certainly supports the findings of a survey conducted by HSF health plan that discovered that over a third of people are risking their health by putting off important medical checks - in the 25-34 years olds category this escalates to over a staggering 50%!

Regular eye tests can spot signs of serious health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and regular dental checks are a crucial part of our oral and general health routine as gum disease has been linked to heart disease, heart attacks and diabetes.

HSF health plan is a not-for-profit health cash plan that has been established since 1873, before the NHS existed, to help people to pay for their healthcare needs. HSF health plan provides a special combined optical and dental option, which means that you have an annual pot of money which can be used flexibly, dependant upon needs, on either optical or dental care.

HSF Health Plan refund up to 100% of costs (depending upon which scheme you choose) to help cover everyday medical expenses, such as optical, physiotherapy and a number of alternative treatments for as little as £6 per month. They also look after your family at no additional cost to share the range of medical benefits, even on the lowest cash plan option.
